About iData

A unified window onto Iraq's data

iData is an open-data initiative that brings Iraq's economic, social, and demographic numbers together in one place — interactive, bilingual, and always linked back to source.

Our mission

Making Iraqi data easy to find, easy to use, easy to trust

Good data makes good decisions possible. But in Iraq, official numbers are scattered across dozens of agencies, locked in PDFs, or hidden in spreadsheets. We collect, clean, source, and surface them in a form both humans and machines can read.

Our values

What makes iData different

Open by default

All published data is free to access, search, and download. No paywalls, no rate gates for casual readers.

Visualisation-first

Numbers in a row are inert. Numbers in a chart are decisions. Every dataset comes with at least one interactive view.

Sourced & cited

Every figure links back to its primary source — Iraqi ministries, the Central Bank, the Central Statistical Organization, World Bank, and IMF.

Bilingual & inclusive

Every page works in English and Arabic with full RTL support — for researchers in Baghdad, Beirut, Berlin, or Boston alike.

The partnership

KAPITA×QAF Lab

iData is the work of two Iraqi teams: an economic-research firm leading the data work, and an impact-led incubator that turns ideas into operating realities. Neither half works without the other.

KAPITA

Research & impact

KAPITA is an Iraqi research and impact firm that pairs economic analysis with business development to support Iraq's entrepreneurial ecosystem.

At iData, KAPITA owns the primary data work — sources, methodology, and the indicator catalogue.

QAF Lab is a privately-owned, impact-led Iraqi business with a single aim — to catalyze the entrepreneurial ecosystem by creating viable opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs. Their tagline: Where Ideas Begin.

Through its in-house Tech Lab, VR Lab, and Media Lab — and an incubation portfolio spanning data, design, agriculture, and media — QAF Lab brings the operating capacity that carries iData from initiative to product.
